A Short Scary Story
Drip, drip, drip. I stared at the ceiling wide awake. I knew I shouldn’t
have watched that movie with Jasmine. She is such a bad influence but she was my best friend. She was into horror and Gore whereas I was more love and comedy. Drip, drip,
drip. That tap was starting to freak me out. I knew it was just a tap but after spending an hour in the dark watching a jumpy movie it freaked me out. What was worse is I was alone.
My boyfriend, Jason, was still at work and probably wouldn't be back till late. He worked at one of the local shops as a guard until he could find something better. Drip, drip, drip. That tap should have been fixed the other day. Jason said he would get someone to take a look. I knew if I let it carry on I wouldnt sleep all night and I needed to get up early to go to work. With a huff I dragged myself out of bed and made my way to the kitchen. I tightened it as much as I could. As I turned to go back to my room I heard the dripping sound again. Maybe it was the bathroom. I detored to the bathroom, which was just past my room. I tightened the tap and the sound stopped. I nodded to myself and made my way back to the bedroom.
Drip, drip, drip. I paused halfway down the hall. It was coming from behind me. I sighed but it froze in my throat as I heard the slight shuffle of feet. My body locked with fear as I heard the heavy breathing. It took everything I had to turn sleeping around on my heel to face the shadowy figure at the end of the hall. My breathing stopped all together when I saw the axe in it's hand. The light from my bedroom glinted of the blood soaked weapon as it dripped on my wooden flooring. We stood frozen in time, staring at each other. I couldn't see his face, he was wearing a black ski mask that matched the black outfit. The smell of blood clung to the air, mixing with my fear. Suddenly the figure launched forward. I stumbled backwards, my heel catching on something I fell to the ground with a scream.
I jolted awake. My brown slick with sweat, my shirt clinging to my back as I panted. My eyes travelled around the room to see nothing. A sigh of relief escaped my lips. It was just a nightmare.
